Gara Racing Paddles is based in Durban, South Africa and produces world-class kayak paddles for marathon, sprint, river and surfski paddling.
Gara combines years of experience in paddle manufacture with fresh, ongoing input from top paddlers like Hank McGregor. Our new range of paddles (named after Viking Gods) builds on the success of previous models by offering a number of variations to suit all shapes and sizes of paddlers.
I bet you're wondering why our paddles are named after Viking Gods?
The Vikings were Scandinavian seafaring people who established a name for themselves as traders, explorers and warriors. The name 'Viking' means 'pirate raid' and those people who decided to set sail for exploring and looting were said to be 'going Viking'. They believed in many gods but there were a couple that 'spoke' to us, representing qualities we as paddlers can relate to.
As Hank and Ken design new paddles, we will honour the Viking Gods by naming each paddle model after a god.
